Introducing our NEW WEEKLY series – FRIDAY FIGHT TIPS!
This week; closing range into shoulder control with a KO Boxing combination. The principles applied here are great for closing range on an opponent with a strong cross. Slipping into the gazelle hook off a long cross is also a great thing to drill. Sometimes less is more. Take your time understanding the nuances of these techniques. Pay close attention to your bodies mechanics when you move. Developing spatial awareness is key when it comes to improving set ups for finishing strikes!
Legendary Gazelle Hooks;
Floyd Patterson, Rocky Marciano, Mike Tyson, & Joe Frazier.
Be mindful, as this is a partnered drill. It can be modified to use in pad drilling as well.
This drill is designed to play with your own unique rhythm, balance, timing, and speed, while coordinating your feet, hips, and shoulders with your entire body as you punch. It can be slowed down, or sped up accordingly. Take your time!
Every Friday, year round. We will upload an important or fundamental fight tip to help you along. Giving you things to try in your own martial arts journey!
As well, Friday Fight Tips will share methods and principles from various martial arts including; striking techniques, various clinching, sweeps, takedowns, and throws. As well as offensive and defensive grappling techniques that you can implement into your own training!
Stay tuned in, every Monday and Friday!
